The Linyanti is one of the traditional migration routes for elephants moving between Botswana and Namibia. It boasts large concentrations of elephant, lion, sable, roan, hippo and wild dog, building to peak viewing in the dry winter months. Classified as an Important Birding Area, the Linyanti is renowned for impressive year-round birding.
"Our friendly safari guide met us at the airstrip on arrival and instead of going back to the lodge to check-in he stopped in the shade and presented us with the most delicious picnic in the bush. By having a late lunch on arrival in the bush we had extra game drive time on our afternoon drive and got to experience all of the highlights of the Linyanti in a very short time. Our guide was fantastic! Just before we got to camp we spotted a beautiful female leopard lying down underneath the thickets of a nearby bush not far from our Lodge Kings Pool. We quietly sat there watching her ....to our amazement and excitement she got up and slowly started walking towards the nearest small watering hole ...100 m from the lodge.
We sat there until sunset watching her lap up the water until she had had enough to drink and decided to lie down right next to the edge of the water....our view of her 10/10!
We spent about an hour with her before we headed towards our accommodation for the night Kings Pool Camp. What an incredible start to our Linyanti safari experience! The game viewing in the Linyanti is superb and the scenery in the green season so lush and beautiful! "Gelle
